Filzmoos - A Hiker's Paradise in the Salzburg Mountains

Glorious countryside.
A contrast between majestic mountains, gentle
alpine meadows, gushing streams and calm
lakes. Just the right spot to discover your limits
or to turn your back on your everyday life.

Feel nature. Dream lazily, time is endless,
savour the tranquillity. Adventure and total
relaxation are easy to combine on a mountain
holiday.

Hiking over blooming carpets

Nature makes you want to just get up and go. The alpine meadows are transformed into blooming carpets and entice you to get active. Filzmoos in the Province of Salzburg is a paradise for alpine flower lovers and active holiday makers of every sort. Those who value the natural experience in addition to the sporting aspect of hiking, should take a look at the village walking programme. Lots of different themed walks this year revolve around the sensual experience of nature. And when, if not on holiday, do you crave colourful flowers, mild air and chirping birds? The exertion of walking clears your head. Then your senses are sharpened for fresh spring water, spicy herbs and the ancient myths and legends of the region.

Filzmoos Harvest Festival
from 25th August to 28th October 2007

"Feel the power of nature, admire the velvety colours of autumn, let yourself be inspired by the idyll of our imposing mountains - an experience for your senses!"

"Salzburg traditional costume with emphasis on leather" is the focus of the Salzburg Harvest Festial. The locals wear their costume in all its variations (working costume, Sunday best, wedding outfit...) with pride and genuine love of their roots.

Bischofsmütze Mountain

Our Bischofsmütze (Bishop's Mitre) Mountain

Filzmoos and its Bischofsmütze mountain belong together like Zermatt and the Matterhorn or like rope and carabiner.
The Bischofsmütze is the highest and probably the most beautiful mountain in the Gosaukamm range. Its imposing form is unmistakable. And not only that. The Bischofsmütze is a place of energy and tranquility.
The "Large Bishops's Mitre" (2,454 m), the "Small Mitre" (2,428 m).
The peaks are formed of reef limestone, the lower parts of primary rock.

The "Large Bishop's Mitre" is a popular mountain for climbing.
