Traffic Service
In order to ensure a relaxed arrival and departure, it is important to keep yourself informed about the traffic and weather conditions. Equally important is the winter equipment: even though snow tires are not compulsory on Austrian roads, they may be mandatory on certain roads as pointed out on the road signs.
The same applies to snow chains. Therefore, for your own safety and to avoid inconveniences during your trip, make sure to equip your car with snow tires and bring snow chains.

Toll Sticker (Autobahn-Vignette) 
In Austria all expressways and highways are subject to toll. The toll is paid by buying a special toll sticker (Autobahn-Vignette). You can purchase this sticker in advance, e. g. at gas stations close to the border or at the border.
