Romantic Wildschönau

Wildschönau is a romantic high valley situated between the Kitzbühl Alps and the Zillertal Alps yet easily accessible in the summer as well as in the winter from the nearby town of Wörgl (6 km) via the so-called Wörgl mountain or the Inntal autobahn A 12.

PARAGLIDING SCHOOL

See Wildschönau from a bird’s eye view. One of the largest paragliding schools in the world makes it possible. The school offers a wide variety of courses and an experience to remember is guaranteed!
The practice slopes are carefully selected to enable flat, long descents. Radioed instructions and many years of experience ensure maximum safety.

THE WALKER’S PARADISE IN THE HEART OF THE KITZBÜHL ALPS

The Wildschönau is a particularly beautiful region for walking and hiking. 300 km well-kept walking paths – in the villages, between the villages, through the woods or on the `real` mountain paths to a height of 2300 m above sea level.
The 4 guided theme walks in the week are entertaining and informative. The ascents are made easier by the use of the two cable cars: the Markbachjoch lift in Niederau and the Schatzberg lift in Auffach.

Nordic Walking

The 1st Austrian Nordic Fitness Park in the Wildschönau

In the 1st Austrian Nordic Fitness Park in the Wildschönau there are seven trails of various grades between 2.4 and 10.3 kms long. Depending on the trail you may exercise Nordic walking, power walking, Nordic hill walking and Nordic snow walking.

The local tourist organisation, the Wildschönau Tourist Office offers in additon a free children’s animation programme. This takes place 5 days a week from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm from July to September and entails complete children’s supervision and entertainment for children between 5 and 14 yrs. Our staff are trained in child supervision and offer exciting excursions like an Indian camp, bread baking on a farm, pony riding, treasure hunt, jewellrey workshop, children’s olympics, adventure in the silver mine and much more. The programme grows in popularity every year.

The Wildschönau Slow Train…

... has been a popular attraction in our valley since summer 1996. The train goes in summer and winter at a relaxing speed of 10 km/h and transports you to some of the loveliest places through typical Tirolean mountain scenery. The train can take 72 passengers in its three cars and is an ideal trip for groups, clubs and families. It runs to a fixed timetable during the season but is also available for private groups at other times on request.

...and even more sports and adventure. If you’re looking for a fun experience, look no further. Children’s adventures, on the tennis courts or in the pool with its giant slide.
If you’re looking for thrills, we’ve got them too, conquer the waterfall, racing down the hills on your mountain bike, taking off with your paraglider. Riding, fishing or walking in the gorge, everything your heart desires totally exciting and still totally relaxing.

Culture

Learn more about the wood carvers craft, and see all kinds of oddities and curiosities in the 1st Tyrolean Wood Museum. If you have always wanted to see a wooden bra or wooden tights this is the place for you! You are sure to find something to your taste among the over 2000 exhibits.
